HANNAH COHEN
Hannah Cohen is a Toronto-based dancer, choreographer, and educator. Her movement style blends modern technique with contemporary and jazz, grounded in musicality, storytelling and athleticism.
Born and raised in Toronto, Hannah trained competitively from age 6 before joining the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre as a company member at age 15. Under the direction of Deborah Lundmark, she performed in the company productions Wintersong and Verge, performing repertoire and world premiere works by Rodney Diverlus and Jennifer Archibald.
Hannah continued her training in the dance program at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she began choreographing for TMU Dance Pak and later became Head of Choreography. Over the course of four years, she has created award-winning jazz and contemporary works.
Hannah has choreographed for Unapologetic Dance Company in their production Sonder and has expanded her performance career into commercial dance, appearing in the music video Gemini by Emma Worley and in a music video for the Canadian electronic/dubstep group Keys N Krates.
As an educator, Hannah has taught at summer intensives and programs across Toronto. She has returned to the Claude Watson Arts Program as a guest teacher in ballet and jazz and has choreographed for the competitive dance team at Notre Dame High School. She currently teaches both recreational and competitive dancers at studios across Toronto. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of dancers and helping young artists develop their passion and artistry through movement.
